ASAUK 2012, Call for panels

Congo stream at the ASAUK conference (6-8 Sept 2012)

The ASAUK (African Studies Association in the UK) is already preparing their biannual conference of September 2012 (Leeds, Sept 6-8).

The organizers would like to have a stream on Congo-research, which means between 4 and 9 panels. They have invited the Congo Research Network to participate in this. It seems to be a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in Congo research.

We would like to invite you to organize panels, and to submit these to us. Panel proposals can come from any discipline in the Humanities, and can cover any topic/area/region. There are no particular themes the ASAUK imposes on participants.

Panels will be one and a half hours.

You can send your panel proposals to Katrien.Pype [@] soc.kuleuven.be, reuben.a.loffman [@] google.com, and m.larmer [@] sheffield.ac.uk . Deadline is mid-September. Identify in the subject line ‘ASAUK panel proposal’.

As from October, the ASAUK opens a call for papers (until April 2012). This means that, for now, you can propose panels without already having identified panelists. After October, it is impossible to propose a panel. At that time, you can only join already accepted panels.

Panel proposals with already identified participants might be privileged when we select up to 9 panels.
