4th CRN PhD Days: Abstracts Booklet

The 4th Congo Research Network (CRN) PhD Days will take place on 15–16 January 2026 in a hybrid format, hosted at UCLouvain (Belgium) and accessible online.

The Abstracts Booklet, featuring 59 papers and 19 posters, is now available online (see below). We are currently finalising the programme, which will be announced soon. In the meantime, we invite you to explore the booklet and identify the papers or posters that align with your research interests.

The two doctoral days bring together early-career researchers working on or in Central Africa to present their research, exchange ideas with peers and senior scholars, and engage in stimulating interdisciplinary discussions. This year’s programme will feature keynote addresses by Gillian Mathys (social historian, Ghent University) and Sammy Baloji (artist–researcher, Sint Lucas Antwerpen).

Registration is now open to the public. Participation is free but registration is mandatory, whether you plan to attend in person or online. Make sure to register by 5 January 2026 via the online form: Register here.

The event is organised by the Congo Research Network (CRN), in collaboration with UCLouvain, KU Leuven, University of Antwerp, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Université libre de Bruxelles, Université de Mons, AfricaMuseum, and Envitam doctoral school.

Join us for two days of rich academic exchange and networking with researchers exploring Central Africa from a variety of perspectives. The complete program is forthcoming.
