The Financial History of (De)Colonisation in the 19th and 20th Centuries
University of Antwerp, 16-17 May, 2025

The University of Antwerp and University of Groningen welcome applications from scholars at all career stages to present their papers during a workshop at the University of Antwerp in May 2025 dedicated to exploring the financial dimensions of colonisation and decolonisation. For this specific workshop, we are interested in research investigating the intricate interplay between imperialist policies, colonial institutions and financial markets across the 19th and 20th centuries. Attached you will find a broader overview of some – not exhaustive – topics that could be covered during the workshop.
